Having cleansed the mirror of my mind with the dust of my Guru's lotus feet, I sing the pure glory of Raghuvara (Lord Rama), which bestows the four fruits of life — Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha.
दोहा 2 बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके, सुमिरौं पवन-कुमार।
बल बुधि बिद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेस बिकार॥
Buddhihin Tanu Janike, Sumiron Pavan-Kumar.
Bal Budhi Bidya Dehu Mohin, Harahu Kales Bikar.
Knowing myself to be without intelligence, I remember the son of the Wind God. O Hanuman, grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove my sorrows and afflictions.
चौपाई 1 जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुन सागर।
जय कपीस तिहुँ लोक उजागर॥

चौपाई 2 राम दूत अतुलित बल धामा।
अंजनि-पुत्र पवनसुत नामा॥
Ram Doot Atulit Bal Dhama.
Anjani-Putra Pawansut Nama.
You are the messenger of Rama, the abode of immeasurable strength. Known as the son of Anjana and the son of the Wind God, your names ring across the universe.
चौपाई 3 महाबीर बिक्रम बजरंगी।
कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी॥
Mahavir Bikram Bajrangi.
Kumati Niwar Sumati Ke Sangi.
You are the great hero of extraordinary valor, with a body as powerful as a thunderbolt. You remove evil thoughts and are the companion of those with pure minds.
चौपाई 4 कंचन बरन बिराज सुबेसा।
कानन कुंडल कुंचित केसा॥
Kanchan Baran Biraj Subesa.
Kanan Kundal Kunchit Kesa.
You shine with a golden complexion and beautiful attire. You wear earrings in your ears and have curly hair that frames your divine form.
चौपाई 5 हाथ बज्र अरु ध्वजा बिराजै।
काँधे मूँज जनेऊ साजै॥
Hath Bajra Aru Dhwaja Birajai.
Kandhe Moonj Janeoo Sajai.
In your hands shine the thunderbolt and the divine banner. Over your shoulder hangs the sacred thread made of munja grass, marking you as a devoted brahmacharya.
चौपाई 6 शंकर सुवन केसरी नंदन।
तेज प्रताप महा जग बंदन॥
Shankar Suvan Kesari Nandan.
Tej Pratap Maha Jag Bandan.
You are the son of Lord Shiva and the beloved son of Kesari. Your radiance and might are so great that the entire world reveres and bows before you.
चौपाई 7 विद्यावान गुनी अति चातुर।
राम काज करिबे को आतुर॥
Vidyawan Guni Ati Chatur.
Ram Kaj Karibe Ko Aatur.
You are supremely learned, virtuous, and exceedingly clever. You are ever eager to carry out the works of Lord Rama with devotion and enthusiasm.
चौपाई 8 प्रभु चरित्र सुनिबे को रसिया।
राम लखन सीता मन बसिया॥
Prabhu Charitra Sunibe Ko Rasiya.
Ram Lakhan Sita Man Basiya.
You delight in hearing the divine stories of Lord Rama. Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita dwell perpetually in your heart.
चौपाई 9 सूक्ष्म रूप धरि सियहिं दिखावा।
बिकट रूप धरि लंक जरावा॥
Sookshma Roop Dhari Siyahin Dikhawa.
Bikat Roop Dhari Lanka Jarava.
You assumed a tiny form to appear before Sita in Lanka, and then took a terrifying form to set the city of Lanka ablaze, demonstrating your mastery over all forms.
चौपाई 10 भीम रूप धरि असुर सँहारे।
रामचंद्र के काज सँवारे॥
Bheem Roop Dhari Asur Sanhare.
Ramchandra Ke Kaj Sanware.
Taking a colossal form, you slaughtered the demons, and thus beautifully accomplished all the tasks of Lord Ramachandra, the divine purpose of the avatar.
चौपाई 11 लाय सजीवन लखन जियाए।
श्रीरघुबीर हरषि उर लाए॥
Laay Sajivan Lakhan Jiyae.
Shri Raghuveer Harashi Ur Lae.
You brought the life-restoring Sanjeevani herb and revived Lakshmana from near death. Lord Rama embraced you joyfully to his chest in gratitude and love.
चौपाई 12 रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बड़ाई।
तुम मम प्रिय भरतहि सम भाई॥
Raghupati Kinhi Bahut Badai.
Tum Mam Priya Bhratahi Sam Bhai.
Lord Raghupati (Rama) praised you greatly, declaring: "You are as dear to me as my own brother Bharata." Such is the depth of Rama's love for Hanuman.
चौपाई 13 सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं।
अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं॥
Sahas Badan Tumharo Jas Gawen.
As Kahi Shripati Kanth Lagawen.
Even the thousand-headed Shesha serpent sings your praises. So saying, Lord Shripati (Rama) embraced you warmly, honoring your immeasurable service.
चौपाई 14 सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा।
नारद सारद सहित अहीसा॥
Sanakadik Brahmadi Munisa.
Narad Sarad Sahit Ahisa.
Sages like Sanaka, Brahma and other divine seers, Narada, Goddess Saraswati, and even Shesha — the lord of serpents — all fail to fully describe your glory.
चौपाई 15 जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहाँ ते।
कबि कोबिद कहि सके कहाँ ते॥
Jam Kuber Digpal Jahan Te.
Kabi Kobid Kahi Sake Kahan Te.
Yama, Kubera, the guardians of the directions — even poets and scholars — where can they find words sufficient to sing your boundless glory?
चौपाई 16 तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा।
राम मिलाय राज पद दीन्हा॥
Tum Upkar Sugrivehin Kinha.
Ram Milay Raj Pad Dinha.
You did a great service to Sugriva by uniting him with Lord Rama, which led to Sugriva regaining his kingdom and royal throne from his usurping brother Bali.
चौपाई 17 तुम्हरो मंत्र बिभीषण माना।
लंकेस्वर भए सब जग जाना॥
Tumharo Mantra Bibhishan Mana.
Lankeshwar Bhaye Sab Jag Jana.
Vibhishana heeded your counsel and surrendered to Rama, and the whole world knows how he became the righteous king of Lanka as a result of your wise guidance.
चौपाई 18 जुग सहस्र जोजन पर भानू।
लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू॥
Jug Sahastra Jojan Par Bhanu.
Lilyo Tahi Madhur Phal Janu.
The sun, thousands of yojanas away, you swallowed thinking it a sweet fruit — such was the playful power you exhibited even as a child, leaping across the cosmos.
चौपाई 19 प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीं।
जलधि लाँघि गए अचरज नाहीं॥
Prabhu Mudrika Meli Mukh Mahin.
Jaladhi Langhi Gaye Acharaj Nahin.
Holding Lord Rama's ring in your mouth, you leaped across the ocean to Lanka. It is no wonder you achieved this — for you are the abode of God's own power.
चौपाई 20 दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते।
सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते॥
Durgam Kaj Jagat Ke Jete.
Sugam Anugraha Tumhare Tete.
All the difficult tasks of this world become easy through your grace. Whatever seems impossible to men becomes effortlessly achievable by your blessing.
चौपाई 21 राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे।
होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे॥
Ram Duware Tum Rakhware.
Hot Na Agya Binu Paisare.
You are the guardian at the gate of Lord Rama's divine abode. No one may enter without your permission — you hold the key to Rama's grace.
चौपाई 22 सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना।
तुम रक्षक काहू को डर ना॥
Sab Sukh Lahai Tumhari Sarna.
Tum Rakshak Kahu Ko Dar Na.
All happiness is attained in your shelter. One who has you as their protector has nothing to fear from anyone in the three worlds.
चौपाई 23 आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै।
तीनों लोक हाँक ते काँपै॥
Apan Tej Samharo Apai.
Tinon Lok Hank Te Kanpai.
You alone can contain your own immeasurable power. When you roar, all three worlds tremble with awe before your might.
चौपाई 24 भूत पिशाच निकट नहिं आवै।
महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै॥
Bhoot Pishach Nikat Nahin Awai.
Mahavir Jab Nam Sunawai.
Ghosts, evil spirits, and demons dare not come near the one who chants your name, O Mahavir. Your name alone is a powerful shield against all dark forces.
चौपाई 25 नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा।
जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा॥
Nase Rog Harai Sab Pira.
Japat Nirantar Hanumat Bira.
All diseases are destroyed and all pain is removed for one who continuously chants the name of Hanuman, the brave hero, with sincerity and devotion.
चौपाई 26 संकट ते हनुमान छुड़ावै।
मन क्रम बचन ध्यान जो लावै॥
Sankat Te Hanuman Chhudawai.
Man Kram Bachan Dhyan Jo Lawai.
Hanuman frees one from all troubles and calamities. Whoever meditates on him in thought, deed, and word is liberated from the cycle of worldly suffering.
चौपाई 27 सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा।
तिन के काज सकल तुम साजा॥
Sab Par Ram Tapasvi Raja.
Tin Ke Kaj Sakal Tum Saja.
Lord Rama is the supreme ascetic king over all. You, Hanuman, are the one who accomplishes all of Rama's divine missions with perfect devotion and skill.
चौपाई 28 और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै।
सोई अमित जीवन फल पावै॥
Aur Manorath Jo Koi Lawai.
Soi Amit Jivan Phal Pawai.
Whoever brings any heartfelt wish or prayer before you receives immeasurable fruits of life. Your blessings are limitless for the sincere devotee.
चौपाई 29 चारों जुग परताप तुम्हारा।
है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा॥
Charon Jug Partap Tumhara.
Hai Parsiddha Jagat Ujiyara.
Your glory spans all four ages — Satya, Treta, Dwapara, and Kali. Your fame illuminates the entire world throughout all of time.
चौपाई 30 साधु संत के तुम रखवारे।
असुर निकंदन राम दुलारे॥
Sadhu Sant Ke Tum Rakhware.
Asur Nikkandan Ram Dulare.
You are the protector of saints and sages. You are the destroyer of demons and the beloved of Lord Rama, who holds you dearer than his own life.
चौपाई 31 अष्ट सिद्धि नव निधि के दाता।
अस बर दीन्ह जानकी माता॥
Asht Siddhi Nav Nidhi Ke Data.
As Bar Dinh Janaki Mata.
You are the bestower of the eight supernatural powers and the nine divine treasures. Mother Sita herself granted you this boon so you could bless all who pray to you.
चौपाई 32 राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा।
सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा॥
Ram Rasayan Tumhare Pasa.
Sada Raho Raghupati Ke Dasa.
You hold the elixir of devotion to Rama within you. You remain eternally the devoted servant of Lord Raghupati, and through that devotion, you are immortal.
चौपाई 33 तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै।
जनम जनम के दुख बिसरावै॥
Tumhare Bhajan Ram Ko Pawai.
Janam Janam Ke Dukh Bisrawai.
Through devotion to you, one attains Lord Rama. The sorrows accumulated over countless lifetimes are erased when one worships you with a sincere heart.
चौपाई 34 अंत काल रघुबर पुर जाई।
जहाँ जन्म हरि-भक्त कहाई॥
Ant Kal Raghubar Pur Jai.
Jahan Janma Hari-Bhakt Kahai.
At the end of life, the devotee goes to Rama's divine abode. Even if reborn, such a person is known as a devotee of Lord Hari, continuing the path of liberation.
चौपाई 35 और देवता चित्त न धरई।
हनुमत सेई सर्व सुख करई॥
Aur Devata Chitt Na Dharai.
Hanumat Sei Sarva Sukh Karai.
One need not focus on any other deity. Serving Hanuman alone grants all happiness and fulfillment, for he encompasses the grace of all the gods.
चौपाई 36 संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा।
जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा॥
Sankat Katai Mitai Sab Pira.
Jo Sumirai Hanumat Balbira.
All troubles are cut away and all pain is erased for one who remembers the mighty Hanuman with faith. His mere remembrance is a cure for all afflictions.
चौपाई 37 जय जय जय हनुमान गोसाईं।
कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नाईं॥
Jai Jai Jai Hanuman Gosain.
Kripa Karahu Gurudev Ki Nain.
Victory, victory, victory to Hanuman, the lord and master! Shower your grace upon me as a Guru blesses his disciple, with unconditional compassion.
चौपाई 38 जो सत बार पाठ कर कोई।
छूटहि बंदि महा सुख होई॥
Jo Sat Bar Path Kar Koi.
Chhutehi Bandi Maha Sukh Hoi.
Whoever recites this Chalisa one hundred times is freed from all bondage and attains supreme happiness. Such is the immense power of this sacred hymn.
चौपाई 39 जो यह पढ़ै हनुमान चालीसा।
होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीसा॥
Jo Yah Padhai Hanuman Chalisa.
Hoy Siddhi Sakhi Gaurisa.
Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa attains all spiritual powers. Lord Shiva (Gaurisa, the Lord of Gauri/Parvati) himself is witness to this divine promise.
चौपाई 40 तुलसीदास सदा हरि चेरा।
कीजै नाथ हृदय मँह डेरा॥
Tulsidas Sada Hari Chera.
Kijai Nath Hriday Mah Dera.
Tulsidas is ever the servant of Lord Hari (Vishnu/Rama). O Lord Hanuman, please make my heart your eternal dwelling place and never leave me.
दोहा 3 पवनतनय संकट हरन, मंगल मूरति रूप।
राम लखन सीता सहित, हृदय बसहु सुर भूप॥
Pawantanay Sankat Haran, Mangal Moorti Roop.
Ram Lakhan Sita Sahit, Hriday Basahu Sur Bhoop.
O son of the Wind God, dispeller of all distress, embodiment of auspiciousness! Please dwell in my heart together with Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita, O king of gods.
