For Friday (Shukravar) Lakshmi Puja: clean the puja area and place an image or idol of Goddess Lakshmi. Light a ghee lamp and incense. Offer yellow or white flowers (especially lotus), turmeric, red cloth, coins, and sweets. Chant "Om Shreem Mahalakshmiyei Namaha" or "Om Jai Lakshmi Mata." Read the Lakshmi Chalisa or Vrat Katha. How to perform a proper Lakshmi Aarti?

Light a diya (lamp) filled with ghee or place a camphor piece on a plate. Hold the plate with both hands and wave it in a clockwise circular motion before the deity's image, starting from the feet and moving upward to the face, while singing the Aarti. Ring a bell continuously during the performance. After the Aarti, pass the flame around so all participants can receive its warmth over their faces and hands (achamana). Distribute the prasad (blessed food) to all present.
