The 10 Classical Remedies of Hanuman Ji

Ranked from highest priority (universal effect, lowest risk) downward. Start with #1 — the Hanuman Chalisa alone is sufficient for most afflictions.

📿

1. Daily Hanuman Chalisa

Highest priority — Universal remedy, zero risk

The 40-verse hymn composed by Tulsidas is the most widely recited devotional text in India — 5+ billion YouTube plays, more than any other devotional recording in history. Recite once daily after a morning bath, ideally facing east. During crisis, intensify to 7 or 11 recitations daily. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, recite at a Hanuman temple before sunrise. The Chalisa alone — without any other ritual — is said to be sufficient to overcome every kind of affliction.

2. Bajrang Baan for Acute Crisis

For intense periods only

The "Arrows of Bajrangbali" — a more forceful invocation in Sanskrit. Used when facing acute crisis: serious illness, court cases, black magic, evil eye, intense psychological distress, severe Mangal Dosha, or the peak of Sade Sati. Recite on Tuesdays after lighting a mustard-oil lamp, having bathed and fasted till the recitation is complete. Strict ritual conditions apply; avoid casual recitation. The Bajrang Baan is considered the protective shield (kavach) for any crisis.

3. Tuesday Sindoor + Mustard Oil Chola

Most traditional weekly ritual

On Tuesday (Mangalwar) morning after a bath, visit a Hanuman temple. Mix sindoor (vermilion) with mustard oil to form a paste (chola) and offer it to the deity — only the priest applies it to the idol, but the devotee's offering carries the merit. Offer boondi laddoo as bhog, light a mustard-oil lamp with five wicks, recite the Hanuman Chalisa 11 times, and circumambulate the idol seven times clockwise. This single weekly act is the most widely practised Hanuman remedy across India.

4. Sundarakand Path

For obstacles in marriage & career

The fifth book of Ramcharitmanas — Hanuman's journey to Lanka. A complete recitation (4–6 hours) is performed on Tuesdays, ideally during the Kartika month (October–November) or before a major life undertaking. Especially powerful for: unmarried Manglik natives, those facing professional stagnation, those affected by black magic, and during the descending phase of Sade Sati. Often performed as a group puja with bhajans and ending with collective Aarti.

5. Hanuman Ashtakam — Sankat Mochan Stotra

Specifically for obstacle removal

The "Sankat Mochan Hanumanashtakam" — eight verses by Tulsidas, each narrating a moment when Hanuman removed an impossible crisis (sankat) from Lord Rama, Sita, or his own troops. Recite when facing any specific obstacle. "Bal samay raghuvar chhabi nirakhi..." — recite eight times before any important task: a job interview, exam, court appearance, or surgery.

6. Donate Red & Mars-Related Items

Direct karmic resolution

On Tuesdays, donate to the needy: red lentils (masoor dal), jaggery (gur), copper utensils, red cloth, sweets (especially boondi laddoo), and a coconut. Feed monkeys with chana and bananas (Hanuman is the king of vanaras). Wheat, jaggery, and red lentils to a Hanuman temple are considered the most direct way to pacify a malefic Mars in the natal chart and to overcome Manglik dosha.

7. Tuesday Fast (Mangal Vrat)

For Mars-related afflictions

Tuesday fasting is the classical remedy for Mangal Dosha and any Mars affliction. The observance: bathe before sunrise; wear red or saffron clothes; eat only one meal in the evening — preferably wheat-based food sweetened with jaggery, no salt, no oil-fried food; spend the day reciting the Hanuman Chalisa and visiting a Hanuman temple; donate at sunset before breaking the fast. Traditionally kept for 11, 21, or 51 consecutive Tuesdays — and for Manglik natives, until marriage.

💎

8. Gemstone — Red Coral (Munga)

Effective but needs Kundali check

Red Coral (Moonga) is the gemstone of Mars — the planet ruled by Hanuman. Recommended for natives with weak or afflicted Mars in the natal chart, for Manglik natives, and during Mars Mahadasha. Wear in a gold or copper ring on the ring finger of the right hand. Energise on a Tuesday morning with milk, ganga jal, and the recitation of the Mangal Beej Mantra "Om Kram Kreem Kraum Sah Bhaumaya Namah" 108 times. Always consult a qualified Jyotishi after analysing your full Kundali — coral is incompatible with Saturn-dominant charts.

9. Wear 11-Mukhi Rudraksha

Optional protective amulet

The 11-mukhi (11-faced) Rudraksha is ruled by Hanuman himself and is the classical Rudraksha for invoking Bajrangbali's protection. Energize on a Tuesday with milk-bath, the Hanuman Mool Mantra ("Om Hanumate Namah") 108 times, and the Hanuman Chalisa. Wear on a red thread around the neck or on the right wrist. Unlike Red Coral, the 11-mukhi Rudraksha cannot cause harm — it can be safely worn by anyone seeking Hanuman's grace.

10. Pilgrimage to Sankat Mochan or Major Hanuman Temples

For deep-rooted afflictions

Major Hanuman temples for darshan: Sankat Mochan (Varanasi) — established by Tulsidas himself; Bajrang Mandir (Allahabad); Salasar Balaji (Rajasthan); Mehndipur Balaji (Rajasthan — known for relief from black magic and possession); Hampi Anjaneya (Karnataka — Hanuman's birthplace); Jakhoo Temple (Shimla). A pilgrimage during Hanuman Jayanti (Chaitra Purnima — March/April) is considered the most spiritually potent act for permanent relief from any affliction.

Hanuman & the Promise of Shani

When Ravana captured all nine planets and imprisoned them in his palace at Lanka, Hanuman — during his search for Sita — discovered Shani among the captives. Hanuman freed Shani, and out of gratitude Shani vowed that he would never trouble any devotee of Hanuman.

This is why Hanuman is the foremost remedy not only for Mars-related afflictions but also for Saturn-caused difficulties — Sade Sati, Shani Mahadasha, adverse Saturn transits, and Dhaiya. The combination of the Hanuman Chalisa on Saturdays with the Dasharatha Krit Shani Stotram is considered the single most complete remedial sadhana in the entire Vedic tradition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Hanuman worship the safest remedy for any affliction?

Hanuman is the only deity in Vedic tradition who is universally protective and cannot cause harm if worshipped imperfectly. He is the presiding deity of Mars (pacifies Mangal Dosha), he freed Shani from Ravana's prison (Shani vowed never to trouble his devotees), and as a Chiranjivi he remains accessible in the present age. The Hanuman Chalisa alone has no preconditions — no initiation, no purity requirements, no risk of side-effects.

Which Hanuman text should I recite for Mangal Dosha?

For Mangal Dosha (Manglik), the recommended sequence is: (1) Hanuman Chalisa daily on Tuesdays and Saturdays — the universal remedy; (2) Bajrang Baan during intense crisis or for unmarried Manglik natives; (3) Sundarakand Path on 11 consecutive Tuesdays before marriage discussions; (4) Visit a Hanuman temple on Tuesday at sunrise.

What is the connection between Hanuman and Shani?

When Ravana captured all nine planets and imprisoned them in his palace, Hanuman discovered Shani among the captives during his search for Sita and freed him. Out of gratitude, Shani vowed that no devotee of Hanuman would ever be troubled by Saturn's malefic effects. This is why Hanuman worship is the foremost remedy not only for Mars-related issues but also for Sade Sati, Shani Mahadasha, and adverse Saturn transits.

What offerings (bhog) should be made to Hanuman?

Traditional offerings include: sindoor mixed with mustard oil (chola) on Tuesdays and Saturdays; boondi laddoo (favourite bhog); a paan leaf with cloves; jasmine or marigold flowers; raisins, fried gram (chana), and jaggery; tulsi leaves; and a mustard-oil lamp with five wicks. The most important offering is the recitation itself — Hanuman is said to be more pleased by sincere chanting of his Chalisa than by any material offering.

How is Sundarakand Path performed and what are its benefits?

Sundarakand is the fifth book of the Ramcharitmanas — dedicated entirely to Hanuman's journey to Lanka, discovery of Sita, and burning of the city. Recited in full on Tuesdays, especially during Kartika month or before a major life undertaking. Benefits: removal of obstacles in marriage and career, protection from black magic and evil eye, success in undertakings, courage and inner strength. A complete Path takes 4–6 hours and is often performed as a group puja.
