Tithi
Each lunar day suits some activities and bars others — Rikta tithis (4, 9, 14) are avoided for beginnings, while Shukla Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami and Dashami are broadly favourable. Amavasya rules out most ceremonies.
Vara (weekday)
